Clients who find my services effective are typically working on something important in their lives or careers, and they want someone who can track with them compassionately while challenging any unhelpful or limiting perspectives and ideas. Together, in individual therapy, we process trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, relationship struggles, workplace issues and career development. I see individuals and couples, and use a combination of approaches including attachment-based theories, cognitive-behavioural techniques, psychodrama, mindfulness and positive psychology.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked at some of Canada’s largest companies, leading teams focused on employee training and leadership development. Helping people work better (and live better), while navigating the reality of modern workplaces is an enduring passion.
Growing the Blossom, Etobicoke Psychotherapy practice and partnering with other therapists in this work is a distinct pleasure in this phase of my life and career.

Experience
Hello, my name is Erin and I am a Registered Social Worker. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Social Work degree, which I completed at the University of Toronto.
My career has been focused on supporting adults and youth with their mental health for the past 18+ years. I have worked in various community settings and have spent over a decade working in hospital-based eating disorder programs, supporting individuals with eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and various life stressors. I work collaboratively with individuals (ages 16+), families and couples to work towards addressing their concerns and developing new coping tools.
The approaches I use include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma informed care. I provide a LGBTQ positive space. I will carefully listen to you and provide a safe environment for you to express your thoughts and feelings, and gain new insights.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 2 children, family and my cats, and being in nature.
Sophia Sammy is a Registered Psychotherapist who has significant experience in working with a variety of client demographics. She has worked within a school setting as well as community and clinical settings.
Sophia has experience in supporting clients from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. She was born in the Caribbean and immigrated to Canada early on in her life. This lived experience has aided her in holding a safe space for individuals and families who are first and second generation immigrants. She has worked with clients as they navigate intergenerational trauma and the ways it connects to the cultural/societal norms of back home.
Sophia’s client centered therapeutic approach encompasses an eclectic array of cognitive, humanistic, and behavioural therapies. She implements CBT, solution focused therapy, art therapy, and spiritually integrated therapy, to name a few.
Sophia possesses a diploma in Child and Youth Care from Sheridan College, a Bachelors degree in Sociology from York University, and a Masters of Arts in Theology with a concentration in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Wilfrid Laurier University.
Are you feeling lost in these uncertain days and would like support? Sometimes life can throw us curve balls. Life has ups and downs. I provide a safe space for individuals to be vulnerable in, to work on issues, and to strengthen your mental health. I bring a caring and listening ear to our sessions. This facilitates an environment for us to work together in and empower one to make changes.
I enjoy working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and ages. Using a wholistic and integrated approaches including: CBT, DBT, EMFT, SFT, and Narrative Therapy, we can learn and practice new strategies for coping and managing daily life and relationships.
I have worked with clients who have felt angry, anxious, depressed, having panic attacks, low self esteem, and experiencing strained relationships at work and at home. Life is a journey and together we can create healthy and positive changes that bring about a sense of joy, peace, and hope.
I have a Master of Arts in Theology (Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy) from Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo, ON) and a Master of Divinity from Ambrose Seminary (Calgary, AB).
I work with many individuals who suffer from addiction, ADHD, ASD, depression, borderline personality disorder, and bipolar disorder. Two specific groups I am adept at working with are people who struggle with anxiety and those who have ADHD. I use a mix of CBT, ACT and IFS interventions to create a treatment plan that will help you achieve a place of peace in your life.
In terms of our work together-I don’t believe in creating unachievable standards - it’s all about baby steps when it comes to creating a better big picture of your life.
I studied a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at the University of Waterloo, and I did my Masters of Theology in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Wilfrid Laurier University
Clients seeking therapy are usually in pain, struggling emotionally and have realized they can't move forward alone. My goal in therapy is to help you live more fully by, not only, identifying challenges but also exploring your inner strengths. This positive approach helps define both the clear paths and obstacles within life. The objective is an increased awareness of patterns that limit our feelings of connection with ourselves, our partners and our families. Together we will explore thoughts, behaviours, emotions and beliefs as they arise within supportive and constructive therapy sessions.
I'm a veteran professional of the family asset management/financial industry - a sector where complex financial issues are often overshadowed by family conflict. This life experience led to a desire to work with families, couples and individuals on a more personal level and, combined with my training, allows me to bring compassion, patience and an unending curiosity to each session. I am dedicated to ensuring you feel you are heard and understood so we can co-create the right path to move forward to the place you want to be in your life.
If you're looking for a safe, non-judgmental space to share, explore difficult issues and face the challenges present in your life, please reach out for a complimentary 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit to work together. Whether you are looking for couples therapy, individual therapy or family therapy, my collaborative approach may be what you need to get “unstuck”.
As an educator for 15+ years with the Toronto District School Board, I have learned that at any age, life challenges not only impact well-being, but they disrupt our relationships and impede optimal functioning in all aspects of our lives.
As a caring and compassionate psychotherapist, I will sit with you and offer you a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where we can get curious and explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and experiences openly and honestly. With new awareness and insight, my goal is to empower you to develop confidence, resilience, and effective coping strategies to lead a more fulfilling life. Whether it’s managing symptoms of anxiety or depression, dealing with stress and burnout, building healthier relationships, navigating identity issues or facing grief and loss, I am dedicated to providing counselling that is personalized for your unique needs and goals.
I believe that the healing journey is a collaborative one. My warm and empathetic approach to developing a therapeutic relationship with you is rooted in an understanding and appreciation of the complexities of human emotions and the intersectionalities of our identities. As such, I value and integrate a range of therapeutic modalities to support you in making meaning of your life stories. Through my personal mental health experiences, I have come to see how incorporating mindfulness and applying a culturally responsive lens to therapy has the power to make clients feel seen, heard and understood.
