Mahnam Khan, Student Therapist

The experiences we carry shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world.  This understanding has guided my journey into psychotherapy, where I combine my passion for  understanding people with my desire to support them through life’s challenges. Rather than reducing  people to a single diagnosis, I seek to honour the complexity of each person’s journey and empower them  to foster meaningful change.

As a first-generation immigrant, I understand that seeking support can feel complicated when culture,  identity, spirituality, and stigma influence our perceptions of mental health. I recognize that every person’s  lived experience is unique because we are all situated within the intersection of our identities,  relationships, and communities. I strive to create a therapeutic space where clients feel understood and  accepted without judgment, allowing them to show up as their authentic selves and reflect on the  experiences that have shaped who they are.

I firmly believe that growth and healing begin with connection. My approach is grounded in  collaboration, compassion, and curiosity because I see clients as the experts on their own lives. My role is  not to tell people who they should be, but to help them better understand themselves, recognize their  strengths, and develop adaptive coping strategies. Through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive  approach, I tailor therapy to each person’s needs while recognizing that growth is a deeply personal  process that does not always follow a linear path.  My experience in crisis intervention, addiction recovery, and behavioural therapy has deepened my  appreciation for human resilience and reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are.

Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, my  goal is to support you in developing greater self-understanding and creating a life that feels more aligned  with your values.  If my approach resonates with you, I would love to connect for a complimentary 15-minute consultation.   Wherever you are in your journey, I look forward to meeting you with warmth and openness as we work  together to create lasting change that feels genuine to you.

Mahnam is in the practicum stage of her graduate studies in Theology, Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Martin Luther University College at Wilfrid Laurier University, an accredited psychotherapy program by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
